Port Muskogee Expands with 125-Acre Site, Unlocking New Rail and River Access

MUSKOGEE, OK – The Muskogee City-County Port Authority (Port Muskogee) proudly announces the acquisition of 125.49 acres formerly known as Frontier Terminal. The new site, now officially designated Port Muskogee South, launches a bold new phase of industrial growth and infrastructure development. The investment marks a generational leap forward. Not only for the Port, but the entire region, and reflects a long-term commitment to infrastructure, innovation, and opportunity that will drive economic growth and global competitiveness for decades.

“This expansion is about more than land—it’s about unlocking new economic possibilities for Muskogee and eastern Oklahoma,” said Kimbra Scott, Executive Director of Port Muskogee. “With direct access to Class I rail carriers, Port Muskogee is strategically positioned to support and enhance industrial operations throughout the Muskogee region.”

The site includes 81 contiguous acres of highly desirable riverfront property located outside the regulatory floodplain. With direct access to the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System (MKARNS), it connects to 20 states by inland waterway and to international markets via the Gulf of America—creating significant multimodal freight opportunities by river, rail, and road.

Port Muskogee extends its sincere gratitude to the City of Muskogee Foundation, whose strategic grant made the land acquisition possible. Their continued investment in industrial development remains critical to Muskogee’s long-term economic growth.

This announcement follows Muskogee’s recent recognition as the #1 city in Oklahoma for announced capital investment in 2024. Port Muskogee South is part of a broader infrastructure transformation already underway across the Port. Recent milestones include the completion of $15 million in rail improvements, the near completion of a $12 million flood mitigation berm, and the upcoming launch of $33 million in waterfront infrastructure upgrades within the main terminal at Port Muskogee.
